An LAPD officer was charged due to his body camera catching him touching a dead woman's chest. The L.A County District Attorney’s Office announced that the officer in question, David Rojas, has been arrested and charged with one count of having sexual contact with human remains. The incident took place on Oct. 20 when David Rojas who is 27 years of age and his partner responded to a call about a deceased woman in a residence. When the two officers arrived they found the woman who had overdosed on the floor, while David Rojas was alone with the body he had allegedly touched the woman's breasts. Although Rojas thought he had turned the camera off it records everything 2-mins after shutting down. After the footage was reviewed Rojas was put under leave while they investigated the issue “There was an accusation of that, and when we learned of it we initiated the administrative investigation and then assigned him home pending the outcome of that investigation,” said LAPD chief spokesman Josh Rubenstein, he also said that if the accusations were true it would be “absolutely troubling if it is true.” Rojas has been set to $20,000 bail and if convicted will serve three years in state prison.
